We figured out how to navigate and use 1688 because my wife is Chinese. We always felt that we had an advantage over Chinese sellers because I could do the copy and marketing. It was big that we understood the buying habits and trends in the US market as an American. We also felt that we could source better than Americans because of my wife being from China and speaking the language.
Then we realized, the best prices and most of the factories were readily available on 1688.com. We didn't need to employ family members to travel to remote villages in hopes of finding a secret factory that didn't know how to use a computer. We could login to a website from Miami and source products better than Americans all day long.
Now I am happy to share that secret with my students.
